Accused people request justice for their case

Three people accused, from Ann Township who have been charged under Counter-Terrorism Law have requested in their third court hearing on 13 August at the Kyauk Phyu district court to judge their case objectively.

“We’d like to request the Tatmadaw to decide fairly. We are very sorry for being accused for what we did not commit,” the accused said.

U Maung Phyu Than, U San Aung Kyaw and U Ye Baw Thu have been detained after an explosion occurred.

Ko Phyo Myat Naing, son of U San Aung Kyaw, said he wanted his father being released from detention because he was innocent.

“My father is one of the accused. They were taken for questioning about an explosion occurred over a mile from where they were at the time of the blast. They have been accused of the bombing. I want my father released because they arrested innocent people,” Ko Phyo Myat Naing said.

The prosecution witnesses said that they are not involved with any terrorist organizations, their lawyer U Htein Lin said.

Major Tin Aung from No. 373 Brigade filed a case against them in July at Ann township police station under section 50 (a) and 51 (c) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
