Bomb blast near Yay Kyaw bridge in Rathedaung

A bomb exploded near Yay Kyaw bridge in Shin Kharli village, Rathedaung township in the morning of October18.

Locals said that Shin Kharli village has been surrounded by the Tatmadaw after the explosion, and an investigative group from the immigration department also has arrived at the village.

“The accident happened at around 9 a.m. Now the village is surrounded by the Tatmadaw, and imagination officials are also here to check us. We all have to stay at our house. We don’t know yet what will happen,” a resident in Shin Kharli village said.

DMG tried to contact Colonel Win Zaw Oo, head of the Western Command, to ask about mine explosion, and he didn’t respond.

U Khin Maung Latt, a member of Amyothar Hluttaw, confirmed the explosion.

“It is true that the explosion happened near Yay Kyaw bridge. But I cannot say whether the Tatmadaw is searching the village,” he said.

A car driver said that the Maungdaw –Angumaw road has been closed after explosion as Shin Kharli village is located along on its road.

“Koe Tan Kauk toll gate told us that we weren’t allowed to use that road. There were about 30 cars that traveled from Maungdaw this morning. Later after 9 a.m. we were allowed to go. But I heard that the road is now closed,” he said.

There are more than 160 houses in Shin Kharli village.
