Detained teacher from Buthidaung Township has additional indictment
A new charge has been brought against a primary school teacher from Buthidaung Township’s Kyuak Yan village who has been detained and charged under Counter-Terrorism Laws, according to his family members.

A new charge has been brought against a primary school teacher from Buthidaung Township’s Kyuak Yan village who has been detained and charged under Counter-Terrorism Laws, according to his family members.
A primary school teacher, identified as Ko Naing Aung Tun, appeared in court on 21 August at Buthidaung township court, said his father U Ba Than Maung.
“I’ve got a chance to meet my son. He was discharged from military hospital in Buthidaung. His face is still swollen. And he has injuries on his wrists,” said U Ba Than Maung.
Ko Naing Aung Tun has currently been detained in Buthidaung prison.
Six people _Kyauk Yan village administrator U San Maung, primary school teacher Ko Naing Aung Tun, Kyauk Yan villager U Kyaw Thu Soe, Thayet Pyin villager Maung Tun Sein and Phone Nyo Late villager Maung Phyu Daung_ were arrested on 9 and 10 August accused of involvement with the Arakan Army and have been charged under section 50 (a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law for committing acts of terrorism.
The teacher only has been added one more charge; he has been charged under section 52 (a) of the Counter-Terrorism law for actions helping terrorists.
U Nay Zaw Linn, a primary school teacher from Pyin Chaung village in Buthidaung Township was also arrested by the Tatmadaw on 7 August and has been charged under section 50(a) and 52(b) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
