Three people who recently tested positive for COVID-19 in Kyauktaw Township, Arakan State, have yet to check in at the township’s main hospital, said Dr. Than Tun Oo, superintendent of the hospital.
Swab samples were taken from 68 people under quarantine in Kyauktaw Township and they were told on September 6 to return home and self-quarantine at their houses due to regional instability, Dr. Than Tun Oo told DMG.
Among the 68, nine people tested positive for COVID-19. Six of them from Kyauktaw town and the surrounding area were subsequently admitted to the local hospital but the other three cases, who are from villages farther afield, have not yet reached the hospital.
“We contacted their village heads. But we have not got contact with the three cases,” said Dr. Than Tun Oo.
The hospital superintendent added that people who had close contact with the COVID-19 patients were instructed to stay at home and inform health authorities if they develop any symptoms of the virus.
Regional instability reportedly displaced thousands of people from several villages in Kyauktaw Township from August 31 to September 4.
According to the Ministry of Health and Sports, there were 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kyauktaw Township as of September 8.
