Dozens of medical staff infected with COVID-19 in Arakan State case spike
The number of medical staff infected with COVID-19 since an upsurge in Arakan State cases began in mid-August and through September 25 stood at almost 70, according to the Arakan State Public Health Department.

The number of medical staff infected with COVID-19 since an upsurge in Arakan State cases began in mid-August and through September 25 stood at almost 70, according to the Arakan State Public Health Department.
“Nearly 70 medical staff were infected with COVID-19 and some of them have recovered. We have not compiled a list of the medical staff who recovered,” said Dr. Soe Win Paing, assistant director of the department.
The positive cases are from multiple Arakan State townships and they are in good health, Dr. Soe Win Paing said.
Dr. Zaw Lwin, superintendent of Sittwe General Hospital, told DMG that three COVID-19 patients had died in Arakan State so far. There were seven patients who required breathing assistance, with the two most recent fatalities being a man who died on September 13 and a woman who died on September 23, he said.
As of September 26, the national tally of COVID-19 cases had reached more than 9,900 and the number of coronavirus-positive cases in Arakan State was more than 1,200, according to figures from the Ministry of Health and Sports.
