Matriculation exam pass rate rises in Arakan State
The exam pass rate increased from 47.25 percent in the 2021-22 academic year to 58.86 percent in the 2022-23 academic year.

Nearly 59 percent of students who took the matriculation exam for the 2022-23 academic year passed the exam in Arakan State.
The exam pass rate increased from 47.25 percent in the 2021-22 academic year to 58.86 percent in the 2022-23 academic year.
A total of 41,755 students took the matriculation exam in 2021-22, and 19,729 of them passed the exam. In the 2022-23 academic year, 16,928 people sat the exam and 9,964 passed the exam.
DMG was unable to obtain comment from the head of the Arakan State Education Department, U Ba Htwee Sein, about the increased exam pass rate.
U San Shwe Maung, the father of a student who passed the exam from Mrauk-U Township’s Kinseik Village, said he was proud of his daughter.
“I sent her to school because knowledge is power. I’d like to urge other parents to attach great importance to the education of their children,” said U San Shwe Maung.
The matriculation exam was held at 60 exam centres in towns across the 17 townships of Arakan State.
Nationwide, a total of 161,850 students took the matriculation exam for the 2022-23 academic year, and 109,851, or 67.87 percent, passed.
