Fighting intensifies between Myanmar Army and AA, both sides receive causalities

The ongoing fighting between the Tatmadaw and AA has escalated between May 12 and 14, both sides have causalities.

On May 12, the Tatmadaw’s convey hit a landmine near Nyaung Chaung village in Ann Township. The roadside attack on Maei road destroyed a vehicle and killed some soldiers.

In addition, a clash on May 13 erupted between Kyauktaw and Mrauk-U Townships killing three members of the AA and one member of the Tatmadaw troop, said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, secretary of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

“We have bodies of three AA members and their weapons after the fighting on Monday. We lost one soldier in the clash. And, on the morning of May 14, a clash broke out north of Kyauktaw that lasted from about 7 a.m. until about 10 a.m. One soldier from our side was killed. We do not know the number of AA casualties yet,” he said.

The AA’s information officer Khaing Thukha said that one member of the AA was killed during the fighting that occurred between Kyauktaw and Paletwa Townships on the morning of May 13.

“We lost one soldier during the morning fighting on Monday. It occurred between Kyauktaw and Paletwa Townships,” Khaing Thukha said.

During the fighting that occurred on the night of May 13 between Kyauktaw and Mrauk-U Townships, Daw Kyar Shwe Yin, 60, was struck by a stray bullet in her left thigh and people from Taung Oo village fled from their homes.
