Regime soldiers set fire to several homes in Kyaungnabay Village, Maungdaw Township, on Friday following a clash with the Arakan Army (AA) near the village.

Regime soldiers set fire to several homes in Kyaungnabay Village, Maungdaw Township, on Friday following a clash with the Arakan Army (AA) near the village.
The junta troops entered Kyaungnabay Village and torched the homes at about 6 p.m. on December 22 after clashing with the AA in the morning, locals said.
“The fighting forced all residents to flee to safer locations. The junta soldiers entered the village and set fire to some homes in the village in the evening,” said a local.
A clash was reported near Kyaungnabay Village on Friday and regime soldiers destroyed some homes in the village, the Three Brotherhood Alliance said in a statement.
There are more than 40 houses in Kyaungnabay Village, and it is not yet known how many houses were damaged or destroyed by the fire.
The fighting broke out between the military and AA near Bawdigon BGF outpost in Maungdaw Township on Friday, with the military firing mortar shells into the scene of clash. Daw Tin Tin Hla, a 50-year-old local woman from Shweyinaye Village, sustained shrapnel wounds to her left leg after a mortar shell landed and exploded in the village.
“A local woman was injured after a mortar shell fell and exploded in a village school at about 11 p.m. She received shrapnel wounds to her left leg and her condition is considered not life-threatening and she is being treated at Maungdaw Hospital,” said a villager.
Cattle casualties were reported in Shweyinaye, Bawdigon and Kanthayar villages due to junta artillery strikes.
Renewed hostilities between the military and AA, which began in Arakan State on November 13, continue to escalate in Maungdaw, Pauktaw and Kyaukphyu townships.
