Four people injured by Tatmadaw gunfire

A Tatmadaw troop that was heading to Mrauk- U town from Pan Myaung village on the evening of 13 June fired heavy weapons into Ywar Haung Taw village, four local residents were injured, according to a villager.
“The Tatmadaw troop shot heavy weapons along the road into the village. Houses and schools were hit by artillery shells,” a local resident from Ywar Haung Taw village in Mrauk-U Township, told the DMG.
A vehicle belonging Myo Oo Gaung Sayardaw in Mrauk-U town was destroyed by gunfire after they arrived in the village to help injured people.
An ambulance did not come right away to save the injured people because of military vehicles that were stopped along the road to the village. Consequently, three injured people were sent to Mrauk-U hospital.
Colonel Win Zaw Oo from the Western Command told the DMG that a clash occurred in the area after a Tatmadaw troop encountered landmines in the evening but the shooting in Ywar Haung Taw village was not intentional the military troop fired heavy weapons into the area where a group attacked them with artillery. “Our troop had conducted administrative activities in that area, but they were attacked in the afternoon at about 4p.m. Three landmines detonated. Then, a clash occurred. Our troop shot into the area where the group attacked them. We did not know people were injured. We just retaliated when we came under fire,” Colonel Win Zaw Oo said.
The DMG tried to contact a spokesperson of the AA, but could not reach them because Khaing Thukha’s phone was off.
