The dead body of a teenage girl and a severely injured young woman were reportedly found along a road near Sharphyukwin village in Arakan State’s Gwa Township on Monday evening.
Local police asked for assistance in getting the pair to the hospital after they were discovered, said Ko Phoe Chit, a member of the Kinyone youth philanthropic association.
“The local police called for help to transport the two injured females to the hospital, so we went to the scene where the two were found and took them to the hospital,” he said. “One of the two women was dead, with her head split open, and the other had a broken leg.”
The surviving woman lost consciousness and is receiving medical treatment in the intensive care unit of a public hospital in Gwa.
Locals said the deceased was 13 years old and the injured woman was about 20 years old, with both believed to be Muslim.
The pair may have fallen from a vehicle, Ko Phoe Chit said.
DMG phone calls to the administrator of Gwa Township, U Zarni Kyaw, and the township police station went unanswered on Tuesday.
