A 68-year-old man from Inndin Village in Arakan State’s Maungdaw Township has reportedly been missing since October 26.
U Maung Thar Sein went missing on Wednesday morning, when he went to pasturelands at the foot of the Mayu mountain range about one mile from the village, his son Ko Maung Than Lwin told DMG.
“He left the home at around 10 a.m. to cut down some trees. He’s gone to the pastureland in the past. My mother noticed that he had not come back at around 4 p.m. We have been searching for him since then,” he added.
The family has been left to speculate as to what may have caused U Maung Thar Sein to not return home on October 26.
“My father often faints when he sees blood. He brought a machete when he went to the pastureland. We think he may have fainted when he saw his own blood [if he cut himself] while cutting down the trees. We feel that he may have been [subsequently] attacked by wild animals,” Ko Maung Than Lwin said.
Local village residents have continued to search for U Maung Thar Sein in the pasturelands and surrounding forest.
