a booth near Htoke Kan Thein pagoda and the Anaut Myay Htel pagoda in Mrauk U have been damaged by the conflict between Tatmadaw and Arakan Army.

  1. It is reported that a booth near Htoke Kan Thein pagoda and the Anaut Myay Htel pagoda in Mrauk U have been damaged by the conflict between Tatmadaw and Arakan Army.
  2. Mrauk U Heritage Zone is one of the listed National Heritages in Myanmar and it is also the time that Mrauk U is currently in the process of the submission of the World Heritage Nomination Dossier.
  3. MAA is extremely concern over the present conflict that can seriously hinder progress towards the World Heritage Nomination, and can significantly loss the Arakanese Heritage.
  4. Myanmar ratified the 1954 Hague Convention for the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict in 10 February 1956.
  5. According to the above mentioned convention

(a) No cultural heritage should be targeted

(b) No armed conflict should break out in the cultural heritage zone

(c) No cultural heritage should be used for military purpose

  1. We, MAA, urgently request in order to sustain national heritage in Mrauk U and to submit the World Heritage Dossier in time that both parties should have respect the regulations in The Hague convention, and should demarcate Mrauk U as free-fire zone.
