The Arakkha Army (AA) has advised residents in Arakan State's Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships to remain alert to possible "terror attacks" by the Arakan Rohingya Solidarity Association (ARSA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO).

Monday's warning urged people to stay fully alert, not to travel unless necessary, and to exercise vigilance while undertaking any travel that may be necessary.

Since launching an offensive against the military regime in November of last year, the AA has seized effective control of both Buthidaung and Maungdaw, located along Myanmar's border with Bangladesh.

RSO and AA troops on patrol clashed briefly near the village of Leik Ya in northern Maungdaw Township, the AA said on Monday, adding that some military equipment was seized from the RSO during the fighting.

The AA said it overran an ARSA base some 5 kilometres west of Shwe Htar (Muslim) Village in Buthidaung Township on Sunday.

The AA alleged that most of the weapons it has seized from ARSA and RSO troops were made by junta ordnance factories, accusing the regime of arming the two Rohingya armed groups with arms and landmines.

ARSA members reportedly abducted four residents from Kainggyi Village in Maungdaw Township as the villagers were on their way to a creek at the foot of the Mayu mountains to fish. Personnel from the AA's nascent Department of Law Enforcement and Public Security, AA troops and residents are searching for the villagers.

ARSA, RSO and the Arakan Rohingya Army have been fighting alongside the regime in Arakan State, according to the AA and locals. The AA has said that it will crush any opposing armed group in Arakan State.

ARSA members reportedly fired upon a civilian vehicle returning from shopping in Taungpyo Town on Sunday, killing one woman and wounding four other people.
