Sittwe man imprisoned for 2018 bomb blasts is released
Ko Aye Win, a local man from Sittwe who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with a series of bomb blasts in the Arakan State capital in 2018, was released from Sittwe Prison on Wednesday morning.

Ko Aye Win, a local man from Sittwe who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with a series of bomb blasts in the Arakan State capital in 2018, was released from Sittwe Prison on Wednesday morning.
Ko Aye Win was released under an amnesty granted by the military junta.
“I was released from Sittwe Prison today. As a person who has just been released from prison, I am extremely happy to see the friends and family who came and welcomed me,” he told DMG.
U Aye Win was welcomed by relatives and some activists in front of Sittwe Prison on June 28.
“The people want the release of all those accused of crimes and imprisoned. As a friend, I am happy that U Aye Win has been released,” said U Aung Than Wai, who was among those who gathered outside the prison on Wednesday.
Four bombs exploded near the home of the Arakan State government secretary, the Sittwe District Court and the Arakan State office for the Settlement and Land Records Department in Sittwe on February 24, 2018.
The Sittwe District Court filed a lawsuit against Ko Aye Win under Sections 50(a) and 50(i) of the Counterterrorism Law and sentenced him to 30 years in prison on November 16, 2018.
Ko Aye Win has maintained that he is innocent.
