Villager being treated for head injury
A villager from Taung Myint village, Mrauk-U Township, was shot in the head on July 23 while travelling on a boat and is receiving treatment to Mrauk-U Hospital, said the administrator of Tin Nyo village.

A villager from Taung Myint village, Mrauk-U Township, was shot in the head on July 23 while travelling on a boat and is receiving treatment to Mrauk-U Hospital, said the administrator of Tin Nyo village.
Maung Gyi @ Bo Than Tun, 22, was travelling by boat with his family from Taung Myint village to Tin Nyo when he was shot near Tin Nyo.
“People in the same boat told me that he was shot at when their boat approached Tin Nyo village. The attack happened before the boat arrived at the jetty. He was shot in the left side of his head,” said Tin Nyo’s administrator.
The injury was serious and the victim was sent to hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
According to Maung Gyi’s sister, who was in the boat when the shooting occurred, said her brother was shot at when the boat approached Tin Nyo.
“We were traveling to deliver paddy seedlings. Our boat was shot by the military. My brother got hit in his head. We couldn’t even count the number of shots. He was sitting in the middle of the boat. All of our family members were sitting around the boat,” said Daw Aye Aye Nu, sister of Maung Gyi.
Bo Gyi’s sister, brother and brother-in-law were in the same boat. The incident occurred around 1pm.
