Junta troops and the Arakan Army (AA) clashed in Arakan State’s Ramree town Monday morning, forcing some town residents to flee when the regime bombed the town.

At least 30 locals selling vegetables, fish and prawn at different locations in Kyaukphyu were arrested on December 17 and 18.

Four men in Kanhtaunggyi town, part of Arakan State’s Myebon Township, were injured in a junta artillery strike on Sunday night.

The vast majority of businesses across all sectors, including agriculture, livestock, fishing, garment, small and medium factories, and small businesses, have stopped operations since renewed fighting in Arakan State began on November 13.

The two sides have been fighting for weeks, but the intensity of the hostilities has not diminished. The two sides have been fighting daily to gain control of the town,

In the past it was almost exclusively the rural parts of Arakan State that needed to worry about landmines, but these days urban dwellers are also worried about the risk.

A local man from Ward-4 in Buthidaung, Arakan State, has been arrested on suspicion of having ties to the Arakan Army (AA).
