A 20-year-old worker at a farm in Mrauk-U District, Arakan State, was found stabbed to death in a field some 5 miles from the town of Mrauk-U on June 27.
The slain man was from Mrauk-U’s Sin Cha Seik ward and was found dead inside a hut in a paddy field between Ywar Haung and Pan Zay Myaung villages. Five hens and three knives from the hut were also stolen, according to U Mya Thar Tun, the administrator of Nyaung Bin Zay village-tract.
“The farmland owner found him dead with a knife wound to his neck,” he said.
Residents said the families of both the victim and the landowner have reported the case to Mrauk-U Myoma police station.
The body has been sent to Mrauk-U Hospital for autopsy. DMG phoned the Mrauk-U Myoma police station seeking comment on the apparent murder, but no one there could be reached.
