The Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) has been given weapons and military assistance by the Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes the Arakan Army, Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), the KNDF said in a statement.
The KNDF was able to start the Spring Revolution strongly with the help of the Three Brotherhood Alliance and is still on a strong path militarily and politically, said Khun Be Du, KNDF leader and an NUG deputy minister in an address to mark the two-year anniversary of the KNDF’s founding on May 30, the statement said.
The KNDF is working with the National Unity Government (NUG) and Karenni State Consultative Council-KSCC in the building of a federal democratic union, the establishment of the Karenni State Government and the provision of public services such as education and healthcare services to the people, the statement added.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance said in a message to mark the two-year anniversary of the KNDF’s founding that the KNDF was praised as an ethnic armed group that could brilliantly write the new history of the Karenni people with the new generation of young people who could withstand the onslaught of the military regime.
“We also recognize the hard work of the KNDF and the Karenni people who successfully overcame the difficulties and obstacles of the Spring Revolution during the 2-year period,” the Three Brotherhood Alliance said in a message.
The KNDF was established on May 30, 2021, more than four months after the military coup and has engaged with the military over 1,000 clashes in Karenni State and captured 10 military outposts, the statement reads.
Intense fighting between the military and a coalition led by KNDF has been ongoing in Karenni State.
