A junta jet fighter launched airstrikes on some villages in Thandwe Township, Arakan State, at around 12 noon on Monday, according to local people.
The regime aircraft dropped two 500 pound bombs on Shinsawpyin, Magyichaung, Kwaychaung and Yaysin villages in Thandwe Township on April 15, a local man said.
“A junta jet fighter dropped two 500 pound bombs on four villages. We heard a loud sound eight times. Some fell near the villages while some landed on the hills,” the local man added.
DMG has not been able to independently confirm reports of the regime air raid on Thandwe Township and the details of the damage are currently unknown.
According to locals, two bombs reportedly landed and exploded near a monastery in Shinsawpyin Village.
The military clashed with the Arakha Army (AA) at a location between Kwaychaung and Yaysin villages in Thandwe Township, Arakan State, at about 5 a.m. on April 13, according to locals. Several junta soldiers have been stationed along the Thandwe-Taungup road since Saturday’s fighting.
“Junta troops provide security along the Thandwe-Taungup road. Regime forces conducted strict interrogations of passengers and drivers following the military’s clash with the Arakha Army on April 13,” said a passenger bus driver plying a route between Thandwe and Taungup.
Locals are worried about their safety as mortar shells fired by Myanmar Navy ships fell near Ngankyun, Kyaukseik, Taungnyo and nearby villages in Thandwe Township on April 9.
