The deputy commander-in-chief of the Arakan Army (AA), Dr. Nyo Twan Awng, will publish a book of poems entitled White Rebel next month.
The book is composed of more than 30 poems written in Burmese, Arakanese, English and Chinese, Dr. Nyo Twan Awng wrote on his Facebook page.
Most of the poems were written during the Spring Revolution, while some were written before the coup, according to Dr. Nyo Twan Awng.
Most of the poems are written in both Burmese and Arakanese, and every poem is translated into English. Some poems are also translated into Chinese.
According to Dr. Nyo Twan Awng, 3,000 to 4,000 copies of the book will be published, and will be auctioned. Buyers can bid depending on their levels of love for poems and desire to support the revolution, said the AA deputy commander-in-chief.
Details about how bids can be made, and how the book will be delivered, will be explained later, he wrote.
Arakanese poet Maung Kutha (Theintaung) said: “As the poems are written in English, people from around the world who have interest in poems can read them. It will also lend strength to the revolution. It is something we should take pride in.”
Artists participating in the revolution have helped with illustrations, design and layout, according to Dr. Nyo Twan Awng.
The doctor-turned-revolutionary is a prominent figure in the revolution of Arakanese people, alongside AA chief Twan Mrat Naing, who are widely held as being leaders in the fight for equality and self-determination for Arakanese people.
