Materials used to calculate firing data to shell residential areas were discovered, according to local residents, at the junta-controlled Tin Nyo police station in Mrauk-U Township, Arakan State.

Junta troops stationed at Tin Nyo police station test-fired artillery on November 14. The following day, they abandoned the police station. Residents then reportedly discovered materials used to calculate firing data.

“Villagers fled the next day after police abandoned Tin Nyo police station. Because they are on the hit-list of the regime. The discovered artillery range tables that include nearby villages,” said a resident of Tin Nyo Village.

Range tables prepared to fire artillery shells at at least eight nearby villages were reportedly  discovered at the police station.

“Thanks to advanced technology, the regime only needs to use GPS to calculate firing data. They would attack anywhere without considering damages to civilians,” said a former 88 Generation student in Arakan State.

Arakan State residents believe the regime is targeting civilians because it has lost several towns and hundreds of outposts in northern Shan State.

“As revolutionary groups and people are in solidarity with each other, they apparently assume that they would be able to crush revolutionary groups if they harm the people. The regime is committing crimes against humanity and violating international military law to target civilians,” said one social activist.

The regime has been conducting joint military operations with army, navy and air force units in the latest fighting in Arakan State.

At least 22 civilians have been killed and 74 others injured in junta air and artillery strikes in Arakan State and Paletwa Township, Chin State, according to a DMG tally. The actual figures are likely significantly higher as it currently remains impossible to accurately tally the casualties in Pauktaw, Arakan State, where the regime and the AA have been fighting fiercely since November 16.
