Several homes were reportedly reduced to ashes in a junta air assault on Zula Village, part of Arakan State's Maungdaw Township, on Sunday.
A junta jet fighter dropped at least 10 bombs on the village at around 10 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. on November 3, burning several homes to the ground, said local sources.
"Scores of homes were destroyed in the regime airstrikes yesterday morning and evening. Many houses in the village were burnt to ashes due to the regime airstrikes," said a source.
Details of the number of houses destroyed by the junta air attack are not yet known.
Several homes were also burned to the ground in a junta aerial bombardment of Zula Village on October 14.
Zula Village has nearly 1,000 households and is located about four furlongs from Border Guard Police Battalion No. 5, the last standing junta battalion in besieged Maungdaw.
Four displaced civilians were killed and two people including an abbot were injured in regime air attacks on a Buddhist monastery in Pyarthar Village, Maungdaw Township, at around 7 p.m. on November 2.
Many displaced civilians and locals are moving from one location to another without a stable place to take refuge due to near daily airstrikes by the military on villages near Border Guard Police Battalion No. 5.
"We are afraid of the sound of junta jet fighters. I don't know where the junta jet fighters are going to bomb," said a local resident in Maungdaw.
Junta air attacks resulted in 31 civilian casualties last month in Maungdaw Township alone, according to a DMG tally.
