Two elderly men and a teenage boy were killed and five others were injured in a artillery on Laungsat Village, part of Arakan State's Ann Township, on Monday afternoon.

The civilian casualties were reported after an artillery shell fired by the military's Ann-based Western Command fell and exploded in Laungsat Village at around 2 p.m. on October 21, locals said.

"The regime has been firing mortar shells and conducting airstrikes on residential areas. Civilian deaths were caused by an artillery strike fired by the Western Command. Locals dare not stay in the village and are fleeing to safer locations," said a resident.

The deceased have been identified as Ko Phyo Min Thu, 17, U Nyo, 60, and U Aung Thein, 75. The wounded are Ma Chit Thet Wai, 14, Daw Hnin Ei Phyu, 39, Daw Soe Soe, 46, U Tin Thein, 58, and Daw Tin Nu, 70.

Laungsat Village, located near the Ann-Tattaung road, is close to the military's Western Command. The regime continues to conduct artillery attacks and air assaults on civilian areas in Ann Township, according to residents.

The Arakkha Army (AA) and its allied forces are currently attacking the military's Western Command and junta camps in a battle for control of Ann, with the regime responding to the attacks with aerial and artillery support.

"The battle for control of Ann is escalating. The AA and allied forces are attacking the Western Command and all military camps in Ann Township. People are fleeing the fighting," said a resident of Ann.

Clashes between the military and AA are fierce in Ann, Maungdaw and Gwa townships, and civilian casualties continue to rise daily due to the regime's artillery attacks and airstrikes.
