A list of university students who will receive their third (booster) dose of Covid-19 vaccine is being compiled, according to a Sittwe University official.
Currently, a list of students who have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine has been compiled, and students who have not been vaccinated will be linked to the Department of Health, said U Kyaw Naing Oo, head of the Academic Affairs Department of Sittwe University.
“We are compiling a list of students for the third [booster] dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Students who have not yet received the Covid-19 vaccine will be vaccinated with the help of the Health Department,” he told DMG.
“It is good that we are compiling a list of students for the third dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Students are also encouraged to get the Covid-19 vaccine. I think the Covid-19 vaccine is safe for everyone,” said Ko Kyaw Naing Htay from the Arakan Student’s Union.
Universities, colleges and degree colleges under the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education, which were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, reopened on May 12. At present, a total of 3,500 students are attending Sittwe University, said U Kyaw Naing Oo.
At a press conference on April 27, regime spokesman Major-General Zaw Min Tun said the junta is trying to achieve 100 percent Covid-19 vaccine coverage by May.
The number of Covid-19 patients as of May 11 was 613,082 nationwide, of whom 592,001 had been discharged from hospitals. A total of 19,434 patients had died, according to the Ministry of Health.
