Sittwe residents complain of potholed streets

Local residents in Sittwe have complained about the condition of thoroughfares and other heavily trafficked streets in the Arakan State capital that are riddled with large, deep potholes now filled with water since the onset of the monsoon season.

Nine Arakanese identified as suspects in death of Thai man

Thai police have identified nine Arakanese people as suspects in the death of a Thai man in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, southern Thailand, near the Malaysian border, according to the Migrant Workers Rights Network (MWRN), a not-for-profit organisation working to promote the rights of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand. 

Ann Twsp residents demand repair of village school

A new school building in Nyaung Chaung Thit village in Arakan State’s Ann Township has been closed and children are studying at an old school building under cover of umbrellas, according to the school building construction committee.
