A resident of Darlat Anauk (West) village in Ann Township, Arakan State, died at a military hospital after stepping on a landmine on Saturday, villagers said.

U Than Tun, a member of the Arakan State Administration Council, told DMG that dredging would be carried out to improve the flow of the Myolae Creek in the state capital Sittwe.

About 100 students who are members of the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (Ba Ka Tha) have been arrested for joining the civil disobedience movement since the military seized power in a coup on February 1, said a responsible person from Ba Ka Tha.

A robbery took place at knifepoint on Sunday night in Thinganat village, Kyauktaw Township, according to local residents, with the thieves stealing money intended for a local monastery.

Four members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) including Ma Moe San Su Kyi, the daughter of former Arakan State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu, and U Soe Lay, vice chairman of the NLD’s Arakan State chapter, were arrested over the weekend, according to a party official in Taungup Township and family members of the detainees. 

The necessary steps will be taken to crown the Mrauk-U archaeological zone a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dr. Tin Mar Aung recently told DMG, as a project she has spent years guiding looks likely to enter its final phase under military rule.
