A junta column advancing from Htigyaing to Katha in Sagaing Region was intercepted and attacked by the Arakan Army (AA) and allied revolutionary forces.
On May 10, a junta convoy moving in large strength from Htigyaing was ambushed during travel by the Kachin Independence Army, Arakan Army, People’s Defence Force, and local resistance groups.
A military source told DMG that a junta convoy arrived in Htigyaing on May 8 and began moving toward Katha two days later.
At around 2:30 p.m. on May 10, the convoy was intercepted, leading to a clash. Two junta soldiers were killed, while resistance fighters reportedly withdrew without casualties or injuries.
The source added that revolutionary forces seized three vehicles, one motorcycle, and seven assault rifles from the convoy during the engagement.
Regime forces have reportedly halted their advance toward Katha and are retreating back to Htigyaing. It is also reported that junta troops have been moving from Katha toward Indaw since May 11.
Junta troops are advancing from Katha toward Indaw. The column includes 30 military vehicles and one tank. As the column advances, the military situation in Indaw could become more intense, the source said.
The regime attacked Indaw in Sagaing Region, previously controlled by Kachin Independence Army and allied forces, from the direction of Katha and recaptured it on April 30.
At present, military tensions remain high in Indaw under regime control. Due to fears of escalating clashes, residents from around 20 villages have fled to safer areas.
The regime regained control of Katha, which had been captured by Kachin Independence Army, People’s Defence Force, and All Burma Students Democratic Front forces, on March 29, 2026.
Clashes continue between regime forces and revolutionary troops in border areas of Sagaing Region and Kachin State.
