Mon and Pa-O ethnic armed groups have expressed admiration for the political vision and battlefield exploits of the United League of Arakan/Arakkha Army (ULA/AA), which has notched a series of major victories against Myanmar’s military regime in recent months.

The military achievements of the Arakkha Army were highlighted in a joint congratulatory message sent on December 25 by the Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), Pao-O National Federal Council (PNFC), New Mon State Party - Anti-Dictatorship (NMSP-AD), and Mon State Federal Council (MSFC).

“Partial liberation cannot free everyone; only complete liberation can be achieved. This victory is not only a victory for the Arakanese people, but also a victory for all ethnic groups,” the message reads.

The message lauds the courage of the AA as it continues the fight to rid Arakan State of the military regime, thanking the political leadership of the ULA/AA and its soldiers’ relentless fighting.

The Mon and Pa-O ethnic armed groups said that given the ULA/AA’s achievements, Arakan State stands a good chance of being liberated from the grip of the junta first.

The message states that the Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes the AA, will continue to fight the military dictatorship. The Mon and Pa-O ethnic armed groups said they will join forces with the Three Brotherhood Alliance and other revolutionary forces in pursuit of the common aims of ending the dictatorship and building a federal democracy.

The Three Brotherhood Alliance’s “Operation 1027” has badly damaged the reputation and battlefield standing of the military regime, with impacts felt well beyond the territories that have seen active conflict related to the offensive, which began in late October 2023. The regime has since lost 89 towns to the revolutionary forces, with the collective resistance’s military momentum continuing to build.

Among the revolutionary forces fighting to overthrow the dictatorship across the country, the AA stands out for the swiftness and scope of its territorial gains over the past 13 months.

“The AA has achieved success in a short period of time, and its fighting ability and the spirit of its soldiers are worthy of admiration,” said a military observer in Arakan State. “The AA has also achieved a series of astonishing victories throughout the country. The revolutionary forces and the general public recognise and honour the AA more than ever before.”
