There were 878 clashes between the regime and anti-regime forces across the country from October 27, 2023, the day the anti-regime Operation 1027 offensive was launched, to March 31, according to a report by Burma News International (BNI).

The Brotherhood Alliance, which is made up of the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, Ta’ang National Liberation Army and Arakkha Army (AA), launched the offensive on October 27, 2023. The fighting continued for three months after China brokered a ceasefire in mid-January.

The number of clashes has increased significantly compared to the pre-Operation 1027 period.

There were 43 clashes between the regime and the Brotherhood Alliance over the 157 days before Operation 1027. The number increased more than sixfold, to 274, in the 157 days after Operation 1027 was launched, said the report.

“Our shared goal is to root out the military dictatorship across Myanmar. We will step up the revolution so that we can reach the goal of the Spring Revolution as early as possible. If other armed revolutionary organisations in other areas revolt together, we will soon be able to oust the dictator,” TNLA general secretary Colonel Tar Bone Kyaw was quoted as saying in the report.

According to the BNI report, the fighting has been fiercest in Arakan and Kachin states and Sagaing Region since China brokered a ceasefire between the regime and the Brotherhood Alliance in northern Shan State.

Operation 1027 had tremendous impacts on the Spring Revolution as well as anti-regime forces across the country and the entire Myanmar people, the report notes.

The offensive led to similar offensives in Karenni State known as Operation 1107 and Operation 1111.

The Central Command and Coordination Committee, also known as C3C, which consists of the shadow National Unity Government, Kachin Independence Army (KIA), Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), Chin National Front and All Burma Students’ Democratic Front, and the K3C, which consists of the Karen National Union (KNU), KIA and KNPP, are conducting military operations aimed at seizing towns and junta bases in their respective military regions, the report said.

Ethnic armed groups and local resistance groups have stepped up anti-regime offensives in Kachin, Chin and Karen states, it added.
