The United League of Arakan/Arakkha Army (ULA/AA) has accused Myanmar’s military regime and its allied Muslim armed organisations of inciting racial and religious hatred in Arakan State.
The ULA/AA in a statement on Monday said the junta has been cooperating militarily with the Rohingya Solidarity Organization, Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army and Arakan Rohingya Army, and has increasingly resorted to various ways and means of provoking racial and religious conflicts.
“The war-losing military council is orchestrating wicked plots to create racial and religious conflicts in Arakkha State,” the AA said in its statement.
The regime has provided military training and armed Muslims from Buthidaung, Maungdaw, Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships, and used them in the ongoing fighting, said the AA, which also accused the junta of working with RSO, ARSA and ARA.
Political and military analyst U Pe Than said: “Any conflict between the Arakanese and Muslim communities will change the course of the AA’s revolution. So, the regime is using dirty tricks to drive a wedge between the two communities. Its actions undermine the coexistence of the two communities.”
Last month, junta troops and allied Muslim conscripts torched many houses of non-Muslim residents in Buthidaung Town. They have also been accused of looting the houses of residents in Buthidaung and Maundaw townships after residents fled fighting there.
The AA has urged the public to exercise restraint as the regime is attempting to incite conflicts between Arakan State’s Arakanese and Muslim communities.
