Damage to civilian homes and civilian casualties continue to rise due to junta airstrikes on Thandwe Town, which is held by the Arakkha Army (AA).

Some buildings were damaged after a junta jet fighter dropped two bombs on Thandwe at around 8 a.m. on November 29.

"The regime is targeting both military and civilian targets, so we are not safe to live here. We are afraid of the junta airstrikes," said a local woman in Thandwe.

At least 17 civilians have been killed and 31 others injured as the junta has bombed Thandwe at least five times since the AA's seizure of the town on September 5.

The regime has been carrying out airstrikes targeting civilian buildings without there being any fighting on the ground, leading to increasing civilian casualties.

Two local women were killed in a junta air assault on the Antaw Bridge in Thandwe on November 10.

At least 14 civilians including children were killed and 25 others were injured in a junta airstrike on Thandwe on September 26.

"The regime is bombing both areas where there is fighting and areas where there is no fighting, so the people need to remain vigilant at all times," said a resident of Arakan State.

The AA has taken complete control of Thandwe Township, but the regime's airstrikes have left residents living in fear.

At least 140 civilian casualties have been reported in Thandwe Township due to junta airstrikes since the latest fighting between military and AA forces began in November of last year, according to a DMG tally.
