A member of the Arakkha Army (AA) was killed and six others were wounded during an ambush by the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) in Buthidaung Township on Sunday, according to military sources.
RSO fighters came in a motorboat and ambushed the AA troops, who were conducting security operations along the Naf River near Jaliadwip Island in Bangladesh’s territorial waters on November 3.
A military source said one AA combatant was killed and six others were wounded during the incident.
The AA has seized control of the entire Maungdaw Township except the junta’s Border Guard Police Battalion No. 5, the only regime battalion left standing in the border area.
“Muslim terrorist groups such as RSO, Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA) have arrested and killed innocent civilians many times. Local people live in fear because of these groups. After the regime armed Muslim armed groups, they became more aggressive. On the other hand, the authorities of Bangladesh need to be strict with the Muslim armed forces,” said U Pe Than, a veteran politician in Arakan State.
The issues currently happening on the border are becoming a challenge for the interim government of Bangladesh led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, and international political analysts have said that special attention needs to be paid to issues happening on the border during the change of the country’s leader.
The RSO is reportedly holed up on Jaliadwip Island, gathering manpower, weapons and often ambushing AA security forces.
In addition to RSO, ARSA and ARA use Jaliadwip Island in Bangladesh’s territorial waters.
According to sources, at least 22 civilians from Arakan State were killed, six were injured and 46 are still in custody due to the arrests and killings by RSO, ARSA, and ARA forces.
