The Myanmar regime has been making repeated attempts in recent days to send reinforcements and food supplies to the Nat Yay Kan tactical hilltop base in Ngaphe Township, Magway Region, which is currently under siege by the Arakan Army and allied revolutionary forces.

The base, located along the Arakan mountain range, is facing severe shortages due to blockades and disrupted supply lines imposed by the Arakan Army and its allies. In response, the regime has attempted to deliver supplies and troops using vehicle convoys from Padan Town, supported by aerial support.

A source familiar with the situation said: “In recent days, the regime has been using vehicles to supply food to Pazi Village and the Nat Yay Kan tactical hilltop base. Previously, they dropped supplies by air. Recently, however, they have been transporting troops and rations by road, supported by airstrikes and heavy artillery fire.”

Despite these efforts, the supply missions were reportedly unsuccessful, forcing regime forces to retreat.

On April 13, a junta convoy attempting to deliver supplies was ambushed by the Arakan Army and allied forces, with one vehicle destroyed by fire.

Although large-scale offensives have temporarily subsided, clashes continue to occur on a daily basis.

Another source close to military affairs said: “There have not been intense battles at the Nat Yay Kan tactical hilltop base in recent days, but gunfire can be heard near Pazi Village. The regime carries out airstrikes and bombs the area around the base almost every day.”

The regime has also been conducting daily airstrikes on nearby villages as it continues efforts to reinforce the base.

In March, attempts to deploy a large number of reinforcements led to heavy fighting, as revolutionary allied forces launched multiple ambushes.

Currently, the regime is continuing attacks in the area using jet fighters, Y-12 aircraft, drones, and heavy artillery.

The Nat Yay Kan tactical hilltop base, located on the Ann-Padan Road, is considered strategically important for the regime’s air defense and serves as a key link between Arakan State and Magway Region.

Military and political analysts have also noted growing security concerns for weapons factories in Magway and Bago regions due to the Arakan Army’s expanding operations.

Following its seizure of 14 townships in Arakan State, the Arakan Army has extended its operations into Magway, Bago, and Ayeyarwady regions.
