Three injured in regime airstrike on Taungup Twsp village

Due to the regime's aerial bombardment, civilian casualties are increasing in Taungup Township, where fighting between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) has not been intense thus far except for a few battles.

Three civilians were injured in a Myanmar junta air attack on Paukinn Village, part of Arakan State's Taungup Township, at around 4 p.m. on October 14.

Daw Khin Myint Wai, 39, sustained injuries to her left arm and right hip and U Hla Tun Kyaw, 47, received injuries to his left cheek and left arm. Daw Than Than Myaing, 61, suffered injuries to her neck in the regime airstrike.

"A junta jet fighter carried out airstrikes on the village two times on Monday evening," said a local resident.

A Buddhist monastery and some homes in the village were also damaged in the junta air assault.

Due to the regime's aerial bombardment, civilian casualties are increasing in Taungup Township, where fighting between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) has not been intense thus far except for a few battles.

Sixteen people including at least one child were killed and five others were injured on October 7 in a junta airstrike on Taungup Township's Tanhlwe Ywama Town.Two people including a child were killed and three others were injured in a junta air attack on Tanhlwe Ywama Town on September 24.

And at least four civilians were killed and seven others were injured when a junta jet fighter dropped several bombs on Kintaung, a model village in Taungup Township, during two sorties in the early hours of October 4.

Civilian casualties continue to rise across much of conflict-torn Arakan State due to the Myanmar regime's artillery attacks and aerial targeting of residential areas.

"The regime conducted airstrikes without any fighting in the area," said a local resident in Taungup. "People can't find a place to stay. As the regime conducts airstrikes on civilian areas, there is no safe place for the locals."

Junta airstrikes caused at least 50 civilian casualties in Taungup Township from September 24 to October 14.
