Junta airstrike injures local man in Taungup Twsp
A local man in his 40s was wounded after a bomb dropped by a junta jet fighter fell and exploded near a monastery in the village on August 31.

A civilian was reportedly injured in a junta air attack on Khayaingkyun Village, part of Arakan State's Taungup Township, on Saturday.
A local man in his 40s was wounded after a bomb dropped by a junta jet fighter fell and exploded near a monastery in the village on August 31.
"A bomb dropped by a junta jet fighter landed and exploded near the village's monastery, injuring a local man. His condition is considered not life-threatening. Another bomb dropped by the junta jet fighter fell outside the village," said a local source.
The military regime launched airstrikes and fired artillery shells into Phonenyo, Khaunglaungtu and Taragu villages on August 31.
Thousands of local people in Taungup Township have been displaced by regime airstrikes and artillery attacks in recent days.
"Locals dare not stay in their native villages due to the junta's indiscriminate airstrikes and shellings without any fighting. Locals flee to safer locations," said a resident in Taungup Township.
A woman was reportedly killed and four other people were injured in a junta airstrike on Meekyaunghtoe Village, Taungup Township, on August 22.
A junta jet fighter also conducted airstrikes on the Moe Pyinnyar Dana Philanthropic Association's training school near Shwekunsan Village in Taungup Township on August 16.
Civilian casualties blamed on the regime continue to rise in Arakan State, with at least 72 killed or injured in August alone.
"People live in fear due to the regime's reckless attacks. The people can't escape to safe places, and the regime is attacking everything, so there is no safe place anymore," said a human rights activist in Arakan State.
Military tensions between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) are running high in Taungup Township.
The junta has prepared a defence at several downtown locations in Taungup, where the military' No. 5 Military Operations Command, Light Infantry Battalion No. 544 and Light Infantry Battalion No. 346 are based.
