Thandwe women and girl arrested for alleged anti-regime ties
Two women and a 17-year-old girl in Arakan State’s Thandwe Township were arrested on suspicion of ties to the anti-regime People’s Defence Force (PDF) and were charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law on November 3.

Two women and a 17-year-old girl in Arakan State’s Thandwe Township were arrested on suspicion of ties to the anti-regime People’s Defence Force (PDF) and were charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law on November 3.
The three accused were identified as Ma Nyein Ei Phyu Kyaw, 35, from Zeephyugon ward in Ngapali town, and Ma Tin Sandar Win, 25, and Ma Theint Aye Chan, 17, from Thandwe town.
They were taken from their homes by regime forces and a military officer filed a lawsuit against them under the Counter-Terrorism Law at the Thandwe Police Station, according to a police officer on duty.
“They were sued with terrorism charges. The three women were arrested and charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law as we received information that they were affiliated with the anti-regime militia,” the police officer said.
A family member of Ma Nyein Ei Phyu Kyaw confirmed to DMG that the three were arrested by junta soldiers.
Of the three detained females accused of having links with the anti-coup fighters, Ma Theint Ay Chan is a 17-year-old matriculation student.
At least six people — five from Thandwe Township and one from Arakan State’s Mrauk-U Township — have been arrested on suspicion of having PDF links and charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law.
