Three people from a village in Mrauk-U Township were arrested by a Tatmadaw troop on 20 September when they were traveling to a homage paying ceremony for teachers in another village, local sources said.

A fifty-year old villager from Rathedaung Township’s Angu Maw village was arrested on 23 September for having a homemade bomb in his house.

After hearing statements from 17 prosecution witnesses, the court ordered to discharge him because the prosecution could not present sufficient evidence to prove he was guilty of the killing of Corporal Phoe Lone,

“Currently, we have a list of 655 students. It is lower than the actual number because some families fled to their relatives’ home in towns. Some are in remote areas where transportation is poor or there’s no phone service,” the deputy director said.

Ko Than Hla, alias Ko Min Bar Chay, who presented a performance during military detention as a campaign to end fighting between the Tatmadaw and the AA in Arakan State, was arraigned on Monday in Sittwe Township court under section 19 of the Peaceful Assembly and Peaceful Procession Law.

A police corporal from Kyauktaw town and a veteran from Buthidaung town were stabbed to death on this Sunday’s morning.

An artillery fire broke out near a jetty in Angu Maw village, Rathedaung Township, yesterday morning at about 10 a.m. following a landmine detonation, local sources said.

A list of 164 people who were designated to be arrested by the Ministry of Home Affairs in connection with the leaders of Arakan Association (Singapore) who have been charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law were seen at the Western District Court, said the lawyer of the defendants.  

U San Kyaw Hla, speaker of the Arakan State Hluttaw, told the state government about internally displaced persons who are struggling to survive during a Hluttaw meeting on September 17.

Yangon Rescue Organisation (YRO) said that IDPs in Arakan State are facing health problems because of unclean water that they drink in the camps.

Tatmadaw representatives objected to a proposal to organize a commission led by the state government to investigate cases of death and injuries as a result of fighting in Arakan State.

Kyauktaw has 259 primary schools in its whole township, and it requires 1,099 teachers to cover all schools. But schools are running with 760 teachers at the moment.
