The Arakan Army (AA) captured the Yan Aung Myin military camp in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, on March 23, the ethnic armed group said in a statement.
The AA also seized the bodies of some dead regime soldiers, weapons and other military equipment during the capture of the Yan Aung Myi military camp, the statement added.
The AA has also been carrying out an offensive attack on the Kyeinchaung Border Guard Force outpost in Maungdaw Township. The AA has besieged the Kyeinchaung BGF outpost for almost a month now, and the group is accelerating its offensive to capture it completely, the statement reads.
Parts of the Kyeinchaung BGF outpost have been partially captured by the AA during the two-day offensive, the statement said.
The AA said it has been attacking the Tamanthar military camp in Maungdaw Township as well, with the ethnic armed group claiming to have seized weapons and killed at least 20 regime soldiers who attempted to escape from the camp.
The AA has been stepping up attacks on the junta camps and BGF outposts in Maungdaw and Buthidaung townships in an effort to control the entire Maungdaw District.
To date, the AA has seized eight towns in Arakan State — Rathedaung, Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Myebon, Pauktaw and Ramree — and Paletwa Township in neighbouring Chin State.
