The Chin Brotherhood reported on Sunday that the Arakkha Army (AA) provided military weapons, ammunition, reinforcements, military advice, and other support in its offensive against the regime for control of Mindat and Kanpetlet towns in Chin State.

The statement said the AA’s support was instrumental in the successful capture of these towns.

An ally of the AA, the Chin Brotherhood includes the Zomi Federal Union, Chin National Organization, Mindat Chin National Council, Maraland and Kampelet Chin Defense Forces (CDF), and Matupi CDF Brigade 1. The group has been fighting the regime in Chin State.

The Yaw Defense Force (YDF), Yaw Army (YA), and the Monywa District Battalion 3 of the People’s Defense Force fought alongside the Chin Brotherhood in Mindat, with the town falling to resistance forces on Saturday.

The groups captured neighbouring Kanpetlet Town on Sunday after junta troops deployed in the town withdrew to the Yaw area of Magway Region.

Around 100 junta soldiers and police were reportedly deployed at the police station, a school, government offices, and a pagoda hill in Kanpetlet, but withdrew following skirmishes with the Chin Brotherhood on Sunday.

The Chin Brotherhood said it rescued 13 political prisoners detained in Mindat following the battle, all of whom were unfairly jailed after the 2021 coup.

The alliance has captured Kanpetlet, Mindat, Matupi and Kyindwe towns in Chin State. It has vowed to continue to attack the remaining junta positions in Chin State in cooperation with its allies.
