Three new Covid-19 variant cases were reported between September 10 and 20 in Arakan State after several months of no reported cases in the state, according to the junta-controlled Ministry of Health.
The first two cases were reported in Kyauktaw and Sittwe on September 10 and the third case was reported in Kyaukphyu on September 17, according to the Health Ministry.
“No more cases have been reported since then. And all the patients are recovering,” the head of the Arakan State Health Department, Dr. Kyi Lwin, told DMG.
The department is currently administering second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to students aged between 5 and 12. Members of the public can receive Covid-19 tests for free at township health departments and hospitals, he said.
Following the reported cases of Covid-19, the department has urged people to get vaccinated against Covid-19 at nearby health departments if they haven’t already.
Since the Covid-19 outbreak in Myanmar in March 2020, the country had reported 619,566 Covid-19 cases with 19,450 fatalities as of September 20, 2022, according to the Health Ministry.
