The Arakkha Army (AA) has attacked an ordnance depot in Arakan State’s Ann Township, where the Myanmar military’s Western Command is based, according to military sources.

The AA reportedly attacked the ordnance depot near the Western Command headquarters with rocket-propelled grenades on the night of November 10.

“Myanmar military heavy weapons, drones and different types of weapons are kept in the ordnance depot,” said a military source.

The AA attack caused a fire and an explosion in the weapons storehouse, and a nearby food warehouse also caught fire.

At least 11 junta soldiers were reportedly killed in the AA attack, though DMG has not yet been able to independently confirm those reports.

“The junta soldiers, including the person responsible for guarding the ordnance depot, died in the explosion. The explosion was very loud. I can also see the burning,” said a source on the ground.

Additionally, one of four military helicopters returning from delivering weapons and ammunition to the Western Command headquarters was shot down by the AA at about noon on November 10, according to a military source.

Fighting between the military and the AA continues in Ann, with the two sides fighting fiercely near the military training school on Sunday.

The AA has stepped up attacks in an effort to seize the Western Command, and the ethnic armed group has so far taken control of at least 10 junta camps in the township.

Hundreds of houses have been damaged in Ann Township due to regime airstrikes and artillery attacks.
