The Chin Brotherhood said Wednesday that it had seized total control of Kyindwe town in Chin State’s Kanpetlet Township on Monday after nearly four months of fighting. The Arakkha Army (AA) was involved in the offensive.
Combined forces of the Chin Defense Force (Kanpetlet) and People’s Defense Force (PDF) groups launched the attack on Kyindwe town on December 22. The Chin Brotherhood joined the offensive on March 7, and stepped up the attack with the assistance of the AA.
The Chin Brotherhood is made up of the Zomi Federal Union, Chin National Organization, Chin National Council (Mindat), Maraland Territorial Council, Chin Defense Force (Kanpetlet) and Chinland Defense Force (Matupi) Brigade 1.
South of Kanpetlet, Kyindwe is located near the borders with Magway Region and Arakan State.
After four months of fighting, the anti-regime forces took total control of the town on Monday despite junta air raids. Weapons were also seized, said the Chin Brotherhood, which acknowledged the sacrifices of anti-regime fighters in the hostilities.
