The Arakan Army (AA) has seized a junta tactical command base east of the Kaladan River, near Tinma Village in Arakan State’s Kyauktaw Township, the Three Brotherhood Alliance said in a statement on Saturday.
All junta soldiers from the Tinma tactical command base surrendered to the AA at about 9 p.m. on January 6, the Three Brotherhood Alliance’s statement said.
The AA has been attacking the junta’s tactical command base on Mount Taung Shae, near the village of Tinma, since December 25.
The No. 9 Military Operations Command, based in Kyauktaw, reportedly provided artillery support for the junta troops in Tinma. The Arakan Army seized the strategic tactical command base despite the military responding to the AA offensive with jet fighters and attack helicopters.
The Tinma tactical command base is said to be crucial for control of Arakan State’s Kyauktaw Township, and Paletwa Township in Chin State.
The Brotherhood Alliance’s statement said the leaders of the military camps that are being attacked by the AA in Arakan State should make an early decision to surrender their weapons.
The AA seized nearly 150 BGF outposts and police stations abandoned by junta troops, as well as two tactical command bases, within the first 45 days of the latest hostilities in Arakan State, which began on November 13, the ethnic armed group has previously said.
