Military clashes with AA near Thandwe Twsp village
Fighting between the military and Arakkha Army (AA) is ongoing near Shwehlay Bridge in Thandwe Township, Arakan State, according to local people.

Fighting between the military and Arakkha Army (AA) is ongoing near Shwehlay Bridge in Thandwe Township, Arakan State, according to local people.
“The military began artillery strikes on positions held by the AA. The fighting is still ongoing,” said a resident of Shwehlay Village.
The regime tightened security checks on locals at entries and exits of Thandwe and fired mortar shells toward the scene of fighting.
“The regime fired multiple mortar shells into the scene of clashes near Shwehlay Village,” said a local woman in Thandwe.
Some mortar shells fired by the military’s Thandwe-based regiment fell and exploded in Shwehlay Village and nearby villages, locals said.
Junta troops and the AA have been fighting near Shwe Hlay, Hsuepotegon, Phayarmaw and Kyaunggon villages, all near the Tha Htay Chaung hydropower dam project, since April 26.
Upwards of 10,000 local people from about a dozen villages such as Purit, Dawmya Supotegon, Phayarmaw, and Chinkwin in Thandwe Township have been forced to flee their homes due to junta shellings and airstrikes.
