Junta launches offensives at three locations along Arakan-Ayeyarwady border

The military junta is launching major offensives at three strategic locations along the Arakan State-Ayeyarwady Region border in an attempt to breach the area, sparking intense fighting, according to military sources.

Military junta forces are carrying out simultaneous full-scale offensives from Thabaung Kalay Village in Laymyethna Township and Artillery Battalion 344, located northwest of Ngathaingchaung, a military source said.

“Severe fighting is taking place because of the heavy offensives launched in recent days. Both sides have reinforced their troops, and the Arakan Army is also carrying out counter-offensives,” the source said.

Ground sources reported that the Arakan Army captured three military junta outposts in Laymyethna Township during counter-offensive operations.

Military analysts said fighting is likely to remain intense as both sides deploy heavy reinforcements for high-intensity offensive and defensive operations.

“Battles are taking place continuously every single day. The fighting is expected to intensify further,” another military source said.

The military regime launched a joint land, sea and air operation on September 4 targeting townships controlled by the Arakan Army in Arakan State, dubbing the offensive “Operation 4926.”

At the same time, the military junta has expanded its ground offensives from neighbouring Ayeyarwady, Bago and Magway regions along the Arakan border, broadening the scope of fighting with the Arakan Army.
