The Arakan Army (AA) has invited foreign businesses to invest in conflict-wracked Arakan State.
“Any foreign investment that is beneficial to and contributes to the development of Arakan State is welcomed,” reads a statement issued by the AA on Monday.
The Arakanese ethnic armed group — which is engaged in active hostilities with Myanmar’s military regime — said it is doing its best for the stability, governance, development, security, public health and socioeconomic improvement of towns and villages it has seized.
Potential investors whose money will bring mutual benefits are warmly welcomed for the sake of Arakan State, reads the state. The AA also promised to provide safety for investors.
The AA has urged existing foreign investors in Arakan State to cooperate with it and its political wing, the United League of Arakan, so that they can continue their businesses and development projects.
The AA would systematically work to restore stability in Arakan State, and strive its best for public interests and regional development, reads the statement.
The AA has seized large swaths of territory in Rathedaung, Pauktaw, Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Myebon and Ramree townships, as well as in neighbouring Paletwa Township, Chin State, since launching an offensive in November of last year.
