Maungdaw border trade center sees about US$1.2 million in trade so far this month
Myanmar exported about US$1.2 million worth of goods to Bangladesh through the Maungdaw border trade centre in Arakan State from November 1-24, according to an official from the trade centre.

Myanmar exported about US$1.2 million worth of goods to Bangladesh through the Maungdaw border trade centre in Arakan State from November 1-24, according to an official from the trade centre.
Daily export volume at the Maungdaw trade centre is about $50,000, said U Thar Tun Sein, assistant director of the trade centre.
“Most of the export products are seafood. The export volume will increase later,” he told DMG.
Rohu, dried fish, onion, plum jam and betel nut are primarily exported to Bangladesh and imports typically consist of kitchenwares, plastic materials, water tanks and commodities.
U Thar Tun Sein said that from October 20-31, the Maungdaw border trade centre traded more than $350,000 worth of goods with Bangladesh.
The Sittwe and Maungdaw border trade centres in Arakan State were forced to suspend operations on July 15 due to the third wave of Covid-19, with trading only resuming in mid-October.
The Maungdaw border trade camp employed more than 130 cargo workers when operations were suspended in July.
