Domestic travellers to Arakan State will not be kept under quarantine, said the Department of Public Health in Arakan State.
Most of the COVID-19 positive cases are returnees and they do not have a chance travelling around in Myanmar, so travellers from different regions in Myanmar are not kept under quarantine when they arrive at Arakan State, said Dr. Soe Win Paing, assistant director of the Arakan State Department of Public Health.
“Travellers from Yangon and those returning from different places in Myanmar will not be put under quarantine. However, for people returned from abroad, we keep them under quarantine because most of the [COVID-19] cases are returnees,” he said.
The number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 12 in Arakan State. Three from Maungdaw Hospital and one each from Thandwe and Taungup hospitals have recovered and been discharged.
The remaining seven cases are four in Maungdaw hospital, two in Buthidaung hospital and one in Sittwe hospital.
The national tally on the evening of July 6 was 316, with six deaths, 241 recovered and 6,112 under observation for COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
