The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and a Mogok-based unit of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) have reportedly seized a junta camp inside a prison near Panmahteik in the eastern part of Mogok, Mandalay Region.
The bodies of 20 junta soldiers and weapons were seized during the fighting, the TNLA said in a statement on July 22. Among the weapons seized by a coalition force led by the TNLA were five assault rifles, one attack drone and other military equipment.
A combined force led by the TNLA has seized junta camps at Mt. Shwemyawin, Mt. Daw Nan Kyi, Mt. Pan Tha Byay and Mt. Shwethayar in the western part of Mogok. A TNLA-led coalition force is currently launching an offensive attack on the regime to capture military camps in the eastern part of Mogok.
The combined force has seized three junta camps in the eastern part of Mogok Township, the TNLA said.
Renewed fighting between junta and TNLA troops broke out in northern Shan State on June 25, marking a restart of the anti-regime “Operation 1027” after the China-brokered Haigen Agreement signed between the regime and the Three Brotherhood Alliance, of which the TNLA is a member, was violated by the Myanmar military.
TNLA-led coalition forces are currently clashing with the military in Mogok, Mandalay Region, and in Momeik, Hsipaw and Kyaukme townships in northern Shan State.
