Five people displaced by fighting in Gwa Township, Arakan State, who were taking refuge in Yekyi Township, Ayeyarwady Region, have reportedly been arrested by Myanmar's military regime.

Civilian casualties were inflicted by junta airstrikes, artillery bombardments, ground assaults, unexploded ordnance, and landmines. Airstrikes were the major cause of civilian fatalities. 

In addition to a general lack of humanitarian aid, IDPs face a food crisis due to pervasive unemployment and rising commodity prices.

A total of 198 have since been released, but 505 are still detained, the report said. Among those arrested were 24 children under the age of 18.

Residents of Kyaukphyu reported that all private banks, including KBZ, CB, and Global Treasure Bank, have been closed since November 15, with more junta troops deployed in the town.

The soldiers who have surrendered range from draftees forcibly recruited under the mandatory military service law to majors and other high-ranking personnel.

Livelihood hardships and rising commodity prices have necessitated that many children under the age of 18 do odd jobs to support their families.

Seven civilians including two children were killed and five others were injured in a junta air assault on Jaikauk Village, part of Arakan State's Gwa Township, on Wednesday.

The Arakkha Army (AA) said on Wednesday — the one-year anniversary of the resumption of fighting between its forces and the Myanmar military in Arakan State — that it is just one step away from capturing four more towns in Arakan State; namely Maungdaw, Ann, Taungup and Gwa.

According to an AA statement released on November 13, the one-year anniversary of the resumption of fighting in Arakan State, the destroyed or damaged buildings included universities, hospitals, clinics, schools and religious buildings.

The shells landed and exploded near an office for the Electricity Supply Enterprise in Ward-1 and a healthcare centre in Ward-2 on November 12, wounding the two women.

Casualties were highest in Thandwe Township, with 188, followed by Maungdaw Township with 165. Most of the casualties were the result of junta air attacks.
